The Samels Family was the sole owner of the farm from 1895 to 2003.
It is a Centennial Farm of 82 acres.
It is in trust with The Archaeological Conservancy
The land was logged twice during the early 1800’s. First by the Dexter and Noble Company, and then by Edgar and Andrew Pray, who sold the land to Frank Samels.
The farms unusual topography reveals the old beach ridges of ancient lakes created over time after the glaciers retreated.
Artifacts collected by the family and the 1966-67 MSU/WMU dig, showed the land was inhabited by Native Americans from soon after the glacier's retreat to the present.
The farm itself was self -sustaining and is restored and shown as a 20th century farm.
