Our Partners

In keeping with the wishes of Ben and Rob Samels, the Society has partnered with Cherryland Middle School students. They research, write scripts, make costumes, and present history to area fourth graders who study Michigan History. Some sections of the farm that the reenacting eighth graders will participate in include: blacksmithing, the barn, house, garden, woodworking, and archaeology.

Cherryland Middle School is located in the village of Elk Rapids. Back in the earlier days, the Samels family took the day long trip to the village to sell their extra eggs, flour, and butter. With this historic connection between the Samels and Elk Rapids, it seemed fortuitous to create this educational partnership.

Please consider joining our enthusiastic and inspired volunteers to continue the legacy of the Samels Brothers.  We also appreciate donations to help us maintain the buildings and farm equipment.
